The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event of this sort to raise awareness of this disease. The funds raised help with research so that hopefully a cure can be found. They need volunteers of all ages to assist with the walk and with over 600 walks in communities across the nation, I am sure there is one near you to be involved in. I urge you sign up to be a team captain.

I have a close friend whose father suffers from Alzheimers. It is difficult for this family to transition from being cared for by this strong capable man to having to care for him when he gets confused or lost. The disease causes you to become violent without realizing your actions and of course it is usually taken out on the ones closest to you - your family. I know the heartbreak this family is going thru from having to take his keys away so he is no longer able to drive to trying to find a capable adult day care so his wife can continue to take care of everything else. She now has to assume all of his prior responsibilities.

Please do what you can so that a cure can be found soon.
